Are there any age restrictions for undergoing rhinoplasty?

Presently, there aren’t any age restrictions to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure. However, the surgical technique used on these two types of patients is different. For example, a young person’s skin is similar to a rubbery and elastic balloon. Similarly, when the bulging cartilages of a teenager’s nose are taken out, the skin shrinks down immediately like the elastic on a balloon.

In contrast, when the bulging cartilages are taken out from a 65-year-old’s nose, no sign of skin shrinkage is seen. It wrinkles up like taking mail out of a canvas mail sack, and anyone can notice that some tailoring on the mail sack is needed for a stretchy look. Hence, Dr. Foster never performs rhinoplasty procedures on older patients which involve making external scars and excising excess skin. Since the skin doesn’t shrink back after the age of 50, a rhinoplasty on patients who are older than that age is done differently using different surgical techniques. Up until the age of 50, a patient’s skin will shrink up just fine.
