If a patient wants to have an extra large breast implant over 2000 cc, the procedure requires the breast expanders to be expanded 10 percent larger than that, making it 2200 cc. During this expansion process, the patient gets the opportunity to live with this enlarged size and weight of the final implants. It also gives the patient sufficient time to decide at each stage of the enlargement whether they want to go ahead with the next level of enlargement or not.

One thing is absolutely clear that an implant of this extensive nature must be performed only by a very experienced plastic surgeon. Such an implant will need longer surgical incisions. An experienced surgeon will place the implant with an incision through the infra-mammary fold, or the fold beneath the breast. With this technique, the surgeon usually gains the best possible control over the placement of the breast implant. The patient gets a nicer cleavage, and the incision scar is more favorable too.
