Can exercise tighten the skin without a breast lift?

Exercise is an important part of a person’s health and longevity of life. It is good for the general maintenance of the body. It can also help to tone up the muscles and even assist in weight loss when it is combined with a controlled diet.

However, exercise does not play a significant role in the tightening of the skin. On the contrary, vigorous exercise fosters body weight reduction, which in turn leads to looser skin. Therefore, it can be a frustrating experience if a person continues vigorous exercising with an aim to firm up the sagging breasts. It may only have an adverse effect on the sagging breasts that may become looser with weight loss.

Some people believe that exercising in a particular way may help tighten the skin or induce weight loss in a specific portion of the body. But there is no truth in such assumptions. There are no “spot” exercises that can firm up the skin in a particular part of the body. Physical exercise does help to enhance the muscle bulk. But for skin tightening, surgery is the only right answer. Sagging breasts cannot be lifted by exercise.

There are many companies that offer various non-invasive skin tightening solutions claiming effective results. Some of the most common technologies in the market are Titan, Thermage and Velashape, among others. However, their tall claims notwithstanding, the fact remains that they might have a very marginal benefit at best. In the case of lifting the breasts, they may be able to achieve barely 10 percent or even less than what a breast lift surgery is able to achieve.

Breast lift surgery removes the sagging tissue while it works to lift and shape the breasts. It tightens the skin around the chest region to give the breasts a smooth, youthful look. Sometimes the breast lift may be accompanied by implant surgery to augment the size and fullness of the breasts.
