To a small degree, implants have the ability to lift sagging breasts similar to how a beach ball is inflated. A beach ball normally rises when you inflate the empty rubber ball, and a similar thing happens with loose, empty skin on a breast, as well. Even though beach balls inflated with air don’t have any weight, it is not the same with breasts. When a breast is injected with saline which has the same density has normal breast gland tissue, it holds some weight. The bigger the implant, the heavier it is.
Even though bigger and heavier implants will decrease the elevation of the breasts to some extent, in general, most women will experience some elevation of the nipple following implant placement. If, however, any degree of sagging is discovered afterwards, then those patients have the option of going for four different degrees of breast lift operations to raise the breasts to a desired level.
Dr. Foster usually recommends patients to wait until after the placement of implants to decide whether any lift surgery is required. There are five different degrees of breast lifts available; priced from $1,200 to $6,000. If a patient opts to go for the breast lift first, she will have to choose the $6,000 procedure. However, if a patient chooses to undergo the implant procedure first, followed by the lift, then she will need a minor nipple lift costing around $1,270. This way you can save around one fifth the cost of having the breast lift first. These are exactly the reasons why Dr. Foster recommends patients to undergo the implant surgery first so that the amount of breast sagging will be less. Further, if a patient is not worried about the degree of sagging she gets following implant surgery, she can live the rest of her life without a breast lift.
